ACT! is made by Monica Ma. It is designed so that your work stays with you.

What the app stores
Your scenes, recordings, self-tapes, emotion voice notes, character notes, trigger moments, warm-up favourites, profile and rehearsal log are stored on your device only. Email accounts created in the app are stored on your device; passwords are stored only as a salted hash. Sign in with Apple gives the app an anonymous identifier from Apple; the app stores that identifier and, if you share them, your name and email, on your device.

What leaves your device
Imports and text recognition are processed on the phone. The built-in voices for warm-ups, classics and practice scenes are recorded into the app and play offline. Prepare's drafts use Apple's on-device model when available. If you connect your own ElevenLabs key, partner dialogue from your scripts is sent directly to ElevenLabs. If you connect your own Anthropic key, a scene-writing brief, or the scene text, role, question and current answer used for a draft, is sent directly to Anthropic under that provider's terms. Trigger moments and your personal notes are never sent to these services and never exported. ACT! has no server in between. Keys live in the iOS Keychain and are sent only to their provider. Apple handles sign-in and purchases. Sharing a take uses the destination you choose in the iOS share sheet; saving to Photos follows your Photos and iCloud settings.

Camera, microphone and speech
The camera scans pages or records self-tapes you ask for. The microphone detects when you have finished a line with Hands-free on, and records takes and voice notes you ask for. Speech recognition runs on the device when supported; otherwise Apple's Speech service may process the audio. ACT! stores no transcript. Photos is used to import a script, tape or profile picture you pick, or to save a self-tape you ask to save. Saved audio can play while the phone is locked; background playback never turns on recording.

Analytics and tracking
None. No advertising identifiers, no third-party analytics or tracking.

Purchases
The Prepare subscription is handled by Apple. ACT! receives only Apple's confirmation that the subscription is active.

Children
ACT! is not directed at children under 13 and collects no data from anyone.

Deleting your data
Delete individual scenes, takes and role work in the app, remove connected keys in Profile, or use Delete account to remove that account's local data and keys. Accounts do not sync or back up your work. Deleting the app removes its local files; keys saved in the iOS Keychain can survive deleting the app, so remove them in Profile first if you want them gone. Copies you exported to Photos or elsewhere are managed there. Device backups follow your Apple settings.
